King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) today signed a joint executive program with a civil community institution to dig 50 surface wells in Niger, where the program is expected to benefit 33,235 individuals. KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Beez signed the program. Deputy Director General of Medical Assistances and Environment in KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Al-Wadi said that the agreement entails digging 50 surface wells with depths ranging between 20 and 30 meters and installing 50 manual pumps, in addition to building a nozzle to protect wells from pollution with installing concrete or iron cover, building a concrete basin for human use for each well with a size of 1 to 2 meters, as well as training two beneficiaries for each well to implement maintenance and follow up on the condition of wells. He also added that the program aims at providing drinking water for the neediest areas, contributing to reducing diseases resulting from drinking polluted water, providing water for livestock that the population relies on for living, and contributing to the stability of the population and limiting migration for water resources. This is part of water supply and environment sanitation projects offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to support the needy countries.
