King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) participated via video conference yesterday in the closing conference to review the project to protect and empower women and girls affected by gender-based violence in Yemen and launch seven training guides, with the participation of 34 organizations from Yemen and Iraq. Director of the Branches Department at KSrelief, Mubarak Bin Saeed Al-Dossari, who represented the Center at the conference, said that the project to protect women affected by gender-based violence in Yemen contributed to the protection and empowerment of Yemeni women, alleviated their suffering, and enhanced awareness among societies, especially in light of crises and disasters, citing the projects submitted by KSrelief, which benefited a total of 113,688,084 women in 73 countries, covering all sectors of relief and humanitarian work, at a total cost of $533,746,786.
Al-Dossari stressed that the center relies in its work on principles based on providing aid and relief services to the needy and the afflicted people worldwide, with a mechanism for monitoring accurate indicators and advanced and fast methods, which are carried out through cooperation with 175 partners from United Nations organizations and international and local non-profit organizations in the beneficiary countries, and that the projects and programs offered by the center are taken into consideration to be diverse per the beneficiaries needs and the circumstances in which they live or have been exposed to.
KSRelief official pointed out that this support is an extension of Saudi Arabia's keenness under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and in the framework of the continuous humanitarian efforts provided by KSrelief since its inception in 2015 to be a leading center for relief and humanitarian efforts and to convey the values of the Kingdom to the world and achieve its moral commitment and mission to support the people and provide them with a decent life.
Al-Dossari expressed the center's pride in launching the project with UN Women to ensure knowledge-based sustainability in the areas of protection and economic empowerment, especially in conflict situations, which were developed per international standards.
For her part, the representative of the United Nations Women in Iraq and Yemen Dina Zorba thanked KSrelief for funding the project to empower women and girls survivors of gender-based violence, which serves a sensitive segment of Yemeni society, and for the joint and effective coordination throughout the implementation period of the project, as well as for designing seven reference training guides per international standards aimed at raising the efficiency of women's support and protection centers in partnership between KSrelief and the UN Women, adding that she is looking forward to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides in the future.
The project aims to establish centers for the protection and empowerment of women, train workers to provide protection programs for women affected by violence based on social violence and treat, raise awareness and protect women from violence, as well as economic empowerment for women affected in the governorates of Aden and Taiz. The project also aims to develop resources, training materials and guides to ensure knowledge-based sustainability in the areas of protection and economic empowerment, especially in conflict situations.
