A fire killed four children and their parents in their apartment in eastern France on Saturday and police detained three people for questioning, officials said. Seventeen people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation from the fire in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, near Strasbourg. The children who died were aged between four and 12 years. Police were questioning a woman and her son and daughter who were in the area at the time of the fire, deputy state prosecutor Laurent Guy said.
