Before 9:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec 29, 2004, a group of the deviant group exploded a car near the Interior Ministry in Riyadh at a time when the street was full of vehicles and pedestrians, said an official source at the Interior Ministry. Thanks to Almighty Allah, with the exception of one case, the other five injuries were slight, and they were confined to the guards of the Interior Ministry. Some other persons who were at the scene were also injured, and they were rushed to the hospitals. Meanwhile, a car full of explosives headed towards the venue of the Special Emergency Forces, East of Riyadh, but the alert security men prevented it from reaching its target. After this development, those who were inside the car exploded it at a distance of more than 350 meter from the gate of the building. This explosion resulted in slight injuries on 12 persons who were inside the building as well as the injury of others who were at the scene, including citizens and residents. All injured persons were rushed to the hospitals, and with the grace of Almighty Allah no death cases were reported until the preparation of this statement. The Interior Ministry would like to confirm to the sons of this country that the security forces are capable of ensuring security and stability, and deterring members of the deviant group. Seven of these criminals were killed when they tried to resist the security men at a site North of Riyadh at 10:00 pm Wednesday. At the site where these criminals were hiding, the security men found weapons, explosives, devices and various documents. The security men are still following up the situation, and another detailed statement in this respect is expected soon.
