Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has approved the registration of Moderna COVID -19 Vaccine mRNA-1273 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after Moderna submitted a request to approve registering the vaccine in order to enable Saudi health authorities for importing and using the vaccine. The SFDA approval of registering the vaccine was based on the data provided by Moderna. As soon as the requirements were completed, the authority began reviewing and evaluating the registration files from different aspects. The authority stated that based on the approval, concerned health authorities will start the import procedures according to concerned standards and requirements. SFDA will also analyze samples from each incoming vaccine shipment before using it to ensure its quality. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority had previously approved Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, alongside Moderna.
