Minister of Transport and Logistics, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser affirmed that the great support accorded by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince to the transport and logistics sector, has resulted in launching the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, which will pave the way for broad development. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has consolidated its position as a global logistics center, which contributes to promoting economic diversification and supporting sustainable development, as this ambitious strategy includes major national projects and qualitative initiatives aimed at promoting the growth of the sector and maximizing the economies of transport and logistics services.
This came during a press conference organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics today to review the most prominent features of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, in the presence of leaders of the transport and logistics sector in the Kingdom, where the ministry reviewed the general frameworks of the national strategy.
Minister Al-Jasser said that the launch of the national strategy embodies the rapid progress towards strengthening the Kingdom's position as a major international hub in the field of maritime, air, and land connectivity and advanced logistics services, which reflects the insightful development and economic vision of HRH the Crown Prince.
Minister of Transport and Logistics indicated that the strategy represents many links of the leading national strategies such as the Hajj, Umrah, tourism, industry and trade, to accomplish the desired goals towards achieving sustainable growth in all regions of the Kingdom, investing in various promising capabilities and opportunities, and consolidating the link with the global economy and international markets.
The Minister drew attention to the fact that the Coronavirus pandemic left a lesson that had a great impact on the world, as this crisis tested the effectiveness of countries in the face of supply chains being cut off, especially in the field of the flow of medicines and food, and many different regions in the world were subjected to crises of interruption and disruption. He added that this embodied a global challenge that the Kingdom succeeded in, stressing the continuation of the development of infrastructure for the land, sea and air transport sectors and the strengthening of logistics services to ensure the sustainability of growth, economy, and well-being.
Minister of Transport and Logistics concluded his speech by indicating that this strategy will have direct and indirect developmental effects on all economic activities in the Kingdom, stressing the work to implement the objectives of this ambitious strategy with the cooperation of all work teams within the ministry and with various partners in the government and the private sectors to transform goals into reality, and achieve the aspirations of the leadership.
