Saudi Press: Ministry of Education Announces Developments in Education System

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Bilad and Al-Yaum newspapers reported in their editorials that a new phase for the education sector is going to kick off differently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the impressive successes achieved at all levels regarding tackling the coronavirus pandemic, especially in the education sector, which has become a pioneering model for harnessing technology and overcoming unprecedented challenges.
The newspapers added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been keen on the safety and health of everyone. Therefore, the government has taken immediate measures and carried out the education process remotely in order to ensure the safety of everyone.
According to the Ministry of Education, the next academic year will witness development of curricula educational plans in order to keep pace with international best practices. Moreover, the upcoming academic year will be divided into three semesters, the newspapers further said.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, affirmation that all personnel of the Ministry of Education must take the coronavirus vaccine before August, 2021, comes to insure the health and the safety of everyone, as well as the safety of the work environment, in addition to ensuring regularity of the educational process. It also comes as a part of sustained efforts being exerted by the government of Saudi Arabia since the outbreak of the pandemic, the newspapers concluded.
In another context, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a big number of domestic workers. According to official data by the end of 2020, domestic workers number reached about 3.6 million. Drivers account for the highest share of domestic workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about 2.46 million drivers, representing 52.9% of the workers, while the home workers account for 44.6%, and their number reached 1.63 million.
Therefore, the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has worked on organizing and developing the mechanisms related to domestic workers. In this regard, the Cabinet has obliged recruitment companies to insure the domestic worker's contract on behalf of the client, the newspaper further added.
The newspaper concluded that this decision will preserve the rights of both employers and the workers if the latter refuse to continue work or do not complete the period of the contract.
