Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia participates in world-wide celebrations of World Heritage Day
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 19 - 04 - 2021

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the Saudi wise leadership's generous donation to charitable and non-profitable works, via Ehsan Platform, comes within the framework of the leadership's usual interest and keenness to promote good values and stimulate society for more giving, solidarity and active participation.
Due to the importance of the non-profit sector, the Kingdom's Vision 2030 has given great attention to it since it is an important and effective partner in the comprehensive development process that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is experiencing. Moreover, Saudi Vision 2030 aims to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to GDP from less than 1% to 5%, the newspaper added.
The leadership's keenness to develop and advance this sector is represented in the the establishment of the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan) that works through investing data and artificial intelligence to maximize and sustain most development projects and services, in order to strengthen the Kingdom's pioneering role in development and charitable works and raise the contribution of the non-profit sector in the GDP, the newspaper concluded.
Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that the Saudi capital, Riyadh, has gone through many important stages of development, construction and economic development, since it is expected to occupy a central position among the world's cities due to its development projects, which are in line with the Kingdom's 2030 vision.
The newspaper added that during the Future Investment Initiative (FII), which was held in Riyadh on January 2021, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz revealed the vision for Riyadh. HRH the Crown Prince said that we will work to make Riyadh one of the ten largest city economies in the world. He also added that ''We also aim to increase its residents from 7.5 million residents today to around 15-20 million residents in 2030.''
The newspaper further said that the Royal Commission for Riyadh City is working on mega projects, such as the Riyadh Metro, Sports Boulevard, Riyadh Art and King Salman Park, as these projects will work on raising the capabilities of Riyadh to achieve the huge strategic plans, since it has the infrastructure to host the largest financial center.
In another context, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated in world-wide celebrations of World Heritage Day, which falls on April 18, under the patronage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and World Heritage Center. Moreover, the Heritage Commission continues its pivotal role in various cities and regions of Saudi Arabia, through existing and completed projects that serve the national heritage, as the commission is responsible for the heritage sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all its fields since its establishment by the decision of Cabinet's session in February 2020.
The heritage preservation is proceeding according to many programs that we have witnessed and we are still witnessing at the level of restoration and rehabilitation projects for heritage and historical buildings, or documentation and study projects for stone installations in the Kingdom in cooperation with relevant national and international institutions and centers, the newspaper further added.
The newspaper concluded that these efforts being carried out by the Heritage Commission come under the generous patronage of the leadership to support the success of the commission in accomplishing very valuable and important achievements during its first year.
