The Italian government has welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution. The Italian Foreign Ministry, in a statement cited by the Italian News Agency (AKI), said that the Saudi initiative is an important sign that gives a new momentum to negotiations held under UN auspices and open new horizons to improve humanitarian conditions in Yemen and realize permanent peace. The ministry also stressed Italy's full support for the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths, calling on all parties to soon reach a permanent settlement and put an end to the catastrophic conflict in Yemen.
