The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states reaffirmed their deeply-rooted faith in importance of consolidating and protecting human rights, citing its positive impact on improving the lives of individuals as well as societies, it was reported here. This came as the GCC Assistant Secretary General for Legislative and Legal Affairs Counselor Sultan bin Nasser Al-Suwaidi addressed the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, held in Geneva today. In a key speech, Al-Suwaidi recalled the GCC Declaration of Human Rights approved in 2014, expressing the collective willingness of the GCC member states to continue with elevating the status of human rights along the side with other legislations and initiatives made by the GCC member states, in the domain of human rights.
