Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia Harnesses Capabilities to Preserve Human Safety, Achieve Objectives of Vision 2030
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 30 - 12 - 2020

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Saudi Arabia has harnessed all capabilities to tackle it in order to preserve human health and safety. In this regard, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's government decision to extend the suspension of international flights, entering to Saudi Arabia through land and sea ports for another week came as a preventive measure regarding the spread of a new strain of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in a number of countries.
Saudi Arabia responded early through implementing an integrated system and many preventive health measures that resulted in significant and steady decline in number of infections and a rise in recoveries percentage, as these measures have been commended by the World Health Organization.
The Saudi government also confronted the economic impacts through packages of support for the private sector in addition to enabling the health sector and the competent authorities to confront the pandemic, as well as its international efforts through its presidency of the G20 that resulted in a quick response to confront this crisis that affected the world, the newspaper concluded.
Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that HRH the Crown Prince described 2020 during the Global AI Summit as a year of an exceptional year to test the potential of artificial intelligence, as the National Strategy for Data and AI was launched with a clear ambition to make Saudi Arabia world leader in artificial intelligence, with the aim of placing the Kingdom among the top 15 countries in AI and attracting a total of SAR 75 billion in foreign and local investments.
Artificial intelligence is an important part of the fields of military training and that is the reason behind the Kingdom's great interest in this field. As a result, the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) has announced the full acquisition of the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) as part of the largest military industries deal ever concluded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the newspaper added.
The newspaper concluded that the development of military industries is a major part of Vision 2030, and this investment promotes efforts to localize technologies. The Saudi cadres in the AEC represent about 85% of the company's total employees, including around 500 Saudi male and female engineers.
