Saudi Press: Annual Summit of the GCC to be held in January, Riyadh
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 24 - 12 - 2020

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that Saudi Arabia continues its success in attracting more foreign investments and strengthening its position in various investment fields in line with Vision 2030.
In this regard, the Ministry of Investment has announced that it has issued 812 licenses for new foreign investments during the first nine months of 2020, compared to 840 licenses during the same period last year. These data confirm the resilience of the Saudi economy in the first nine months of the year 2020 despite the difficult challenges that the global economy has faced since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. The ministry focuses on developing the Saudi investment environment, addressing challenges facing foreign companies operating in the Kingdom and encouraging them to expand their investments to achieve economic diversification, the paper added.
The newspaper concluded that the future of investment in the Kingdom carries more positive indicators for all Saudi and foreign investors and the Saudi investment environment is witnessing more reforms, as the World Bank report previously stated that Saudi Arabia is the top reformer and top improver among other countries.
Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that human rights represent a major priority in Saudi Arabia approach and policy, as it works on strengthening the protection of the most vulnerable groups in the society, especially for those with disabilities, to ensure that they obtain their rights.
The Kingdom's Vision 2030 included assurances on empowering people with disabilities, and Saudi Arabia has taken many legislative and institutional measures in this regard.
Saudi Arabia is keen on the participation of this group in identifying the challenges they face and discussing issues related to their rights in various fields, within Saudi Arabia's comprehensive development process and its ambitious vision for prosperity. The Saudi progress in protecting human rights is also a subject of appreciation by the United Nations and its international institutions.
In another context, Okaz newspaper said in its editorial the as the annual summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that will be held in January, Riyadh, approaches, the citizens of the GCC countries are looking forward to the role that Saudi Arabia has always played in strengthening Gulf cohesion and unity even in the most difficult circumstances.
Saudi Arabia's approach since the establishment of the GCC has been balanced, supporting every action that contributes to achieving common goals and aspirations, as well as overcoming obstacles. This Saudi balance resulted in preserving the unity of the Gulf ranks and supporting member states to reach a settlement and viable solutions to the Gulf-Gulf disputes and cooperation with world countries.
The newspaper added that Saudi policy with GCC states is the unity of the Gulf ranks and the rejection of Gulf disputes, and the summit will witness the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen interdependence between the GCC states and deepen cooperation in order to reach political, economic, social and cultural unity.
