Saudi Arabia has ranked 6th among the safest travel destinations in the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was the sole Middle Eastern country to be included in the classification. This came according to an article published on the Wego Travel Blog, entitled "Safe places to travel during the (Covid-19) pandemic." The classification adopts EU methodology for its travel risk assessment. The classification methodology relies on epidemiological criteria, countries' ability to significantly decrease and stabilize the spread of the coronavirus for a sustained period of time; health system capacity, adequate occupancy rates for Intensive Care Units, which among others entails sufficient numbers of hospital beds; in addition to appropriate monitoring capacity, proper testing centers to hold large-scale testing capacity to detect and monitor cases of infection.
