The Ministry of Health (MoH) has activated the awareness activities of the World Osteoporosis Day which is celebrated annually on 20 October. Through an awareness infographic published on its Twitter account and its educational platform (Live Well), MoH has provided educational guidelines on osteoporosis and ways of prevention, in addition to the importance of vitamin D for the body. The activities aim at raising the awareness of community about the risk factors for osteoporosis, raising the awareness of the community members about active healthy aging and healthy lifestyle to prevent osteoporosis and its fractures, as well as stressing the importance of early detection of osteoporosis. MoH also emphasized the direct link between osteoporosis and broken bones, which have a serious, life-changing impact in terms of pain, disability and lost independence. The ministry confirmed that a healthy lifestyle of food and physical activity has an essential role in preventing osteoporosis.
