Published in Saudi Press Agency on 26 - 09 - 2020

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al- Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, confirmed in his speech he delivered virtually before UN General Assembly in its 75th Session in New York that the world today is facing a unprecedented challenge in the form of Covid-19 pandemic and its health, humanitarian, and economic repercussions, which made us in urgent need for working collectively to confront the common challenges to our world.
The paper added that Saudi Arabia as President of the G20, has coordinated international efforts by holding a Leaders' summit last March to coordinate the global efforts to combat this pandemic and curb its humanitarian and economic impacts.
The paper concluded during the summit, Saudi Arabia announced its pledge of $500 million to support the efforts to combat the pandemic and reinforce emergency preparedness and responses, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to promote global response efforts to confront this pandemic and address its repercussions.
Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued approval, allowing performing Umrah and paying visit gradually, while applying the necessary health precautions and measures.
The paper added that this great initiative came due to the unprecedented and unremitting efforts being exerted by the Saudi Arabia's Government to reduce the effects and repercussions of the Covid-19 Pandemic and accelerate the return to normal life.
The paper concluded that this generous approval confirms Saudi Arabia's keenness to enable the pilgrims to perform their rituals in a safe and healthy way.
