Chaired by the acting Minister of Economy and Planning Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), issued a decision to appoint Dr. Konrad Pesendorfer as President of the authority, where he and his national qualified fellow members of the board will develop and govern statistical work and achieve the goals of becoming a class standard statistical body, as per the global standards capable of fulfilling its role and functions, likewise its counterpart bodies, in the G20 member states, based on the internationally recognized best practices, followed in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member states. The decision falls in the context of its efforts to achieve the goals of the national statistical development strategy, approved by the Cabinet in 2019, aimed at strengthening and developing statistical and information work, in the Kingdom, and ensuring the sustainability of its main role in providing. on time, accurate and correct information and statistical data, to be accessible to researchers, decision makers and investors, which would achieve joint work compatible with data and information systems in the Kingdom, in a manner that would lead to a high level of transparency and integration, and meets the relevant obligations in the statistical field.
