Committee Concerned with Following up COVID-19 Urges All to Stay Home Except in Cases of Necessity

The committee concerned with following up the health situation of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) affirmed the importance of continuation of applying and enhancing all precautionary measures in all entry ports as well as all precautionary measures to contain this virus. The committee hailed the society's interaction with the curfew order, calling on them to stay at home except in cases of necessity during the unlimited period.
The committee held here today its 35th meeting under chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawazan Al-Rabiah in presence of the members of all governmental relevant entities.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed all reports and developments of the virus as well as the epidemiological situation of the virus worldwide including the confirmed cases in the Kingdom.
Following the meeting in a press conference, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aali, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the total number of confirmed cases with the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to 424,000, adding that 110,000 cases recovered so far. He disclosed that the number of deaths reached 19,000.
"As many as 133 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in the Kingdom, including 18 cases are linked with travel and are isolated since their arrival to the Kingdom's ports. 115 cases are recorded recently for persons who were in contact with previous cases. All of the cases are under health observation," he added.
"The confirmed cases covered many cities in the Kingdom, including 83 in Riyadh, 13 in Dammam, 10 in Jeddah, six in each of Madinah and Qatif, five in Khobar, four in Najran, two in each Abha and Arar and on in each of Dhahran and Jubail. The accumulated COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom are 900. All cases are receiving medical care with their situations diagnosed as stable, except four as critical," he said, announcing a death for 46-year-old resident in Makkah, bringing the total number of deaths to two. He added that one case recovered, bringing to 29 the total number of recoverees.
The Spokesman of the Health Ministry urged all to abide by the health and life-saving instructions, calling to avoid shaking hands, use tissue papers for sneezing or coughing and dispose them immediately, wash hands continuously, stay away from gatherings and apply 14-day health isolation for anyone coming from abroad.
He called on everyone to take advantage of the self-assessment service about the symptoms of the new Coronavirus, which is available on MAWID electronic application.
Dr. Al-Abd Al-Aali urged anyone coming from infected areas to communicate with the Health Center (937), warning from rumors about this virus.
