The Saudi Health Economics Experts Dialogue Forum, which is organized by the Saudi Scientific Association for Diabetes, is held here today. At the outset of the ceremony, verses of the Holy Quran were recited. A speech ceremony is held on this occasion. Addressing the forum, Dr. Abdurrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the forum and the Saudi Scientific Association for Diabetes, delivered a speech in which he disclosed that the Kingdom has achieved an unprecedented achievement at the level of the Gulf and the Middle East through launching the first forum for the dialogue of the Saudi health economics experts for two days, affirming that this forum is the first of its kind in the economics of diabetes treatment and its complications. He added that the forum adopted a clear mechanism and specialized standards for evaluating diabetes medication within a framework of the goals of the Kingdom Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of the health services and increase the effectiveness of diabetes medications. With a participation of more than 300 health care professionals and more than 40 speakers or experts from inside and outside the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Sheikh stressed that the two-day forum of the Saudi Health Economics Experts Dialogue will discuss 20 work papers and researches embodying the concept of partnership and cooperation between the different health sectors in the field of treating diabetes and its complications. Dr. Abdurrahman highlighted the importance of addressing the gap represented by the lack of highly efficient evaluation platforms in the field of managing the costs of diabetes treatments in the health facilities, pointing out that diabetes is the most common disease and one of the biggest causes of death among the people in the Kingdom. For his part, Assistant Director General of Medical Services in the Armed Forces for Supply Affairs Major General Dr. Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Rashed affirmed that the diabetes and its complications have doubled the costs of controlling it, explaining that diabetes and its complications have become a huge burden on the health system, not only in the Kingdom, but the entire world. Dr. Saud Al-Safri, member of the scientific committee of the forum, affirmed that this scientific forum is an extension of the ambitious plan launched by the Kingdom Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020. At a conclusion, the sponsors were honored.
