Saudi Golf Summit Kicks off in King Abdullah Economic City

Majed Al-Sorour, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Golf Federation and Golf Saudi, praised the ambitious role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the global golf market, pointing out that it is expected to announce the federation's plan to transform the local market into the market for the most dynamic game around the world within the next ten years.
During his speech at the Saudi Golf Forum which is kicked off here today at King Abdullah Economic City, the CEO of the Saudi Golf affirmed that this forum represents the largest gathering for those interested in this game in the Kingdom, adding that this game requires a high commitment to develop its practice techniques.
"It gives me great pleasure to be able to welcome you all to Saudi Arabia and to discuss something that is very close to my heart, the great game of golf. Golf requires commitment. Dedication to mastering the basics. The sport demands etiquette, discipline and self-governance. As a result of these values, I want golf to become part of the fabric of modern-day Saudi Arabia," he said.
The 1st Saudi Golf Summit will highlight the commercial and investment opportunities, stressing that the participants in the summit's activities will be briefed on the serious steps applied by "Saudi Golf" towards creating an innovative system for the game community that focuses on the five main goals, including a development of infrastructure, making events, supporting the Saudi national team, developing academies and training programs and promoting tourism and the game's fans.
"With the ambition of all sectors in the Kingdom towards achieving the goals of the Kingdom Vision 2030, the Saudi Golf Summit is held with the aim of opening doors for all interested and investors to present their views on the country's opportunities to make new standards for the game environment," Al-Sorour said, adding that the federation seeks to attract about 17,000 to 23,000 players by 2030 in the Kingdom.
"In light of the ambitious vision of HRH the Crown Prince, the Kingdom has achieved the enormous developments in its history," Al-Sorour announced, disclosing that the Saudi Golf takes part in the country's development in the fields of tourism, investment and entertainment.
"The country is very much open for business. These are hugely exciting times. I hope that this game contributes to help develop the leaders of tomorrow in the economy and all various sectors," Al-Sorour said.
The CEO of Golf Saudi hailed the ability of local initiatives to change the reality of the golf game and create its identity.
The Saudi Golf Summit will bring together leaders of industry and national figures to debate topics and modern development tactics in golf.
The summit will allow guests the opportunity to learn more about golf's rapid growth within the Kingdom, and provide an opportunity to unite stakeholders of the game and evolve key business relations.
