Asian stock markets fell on Thursday, AP reported. The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.6% to 2,791.60 and Tokyo's Nikkei 225 sank 1.5% to 20,392.99. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.2% to 25,259.68. Australia's S&P-ASX 200 fell 2.7% to 6,415.90. Markets in New Zealand and Southeast Asia also retreated. South Korean markets were closed for a holiday. Benchmark U.S. crude lost 28 cents to $54.95 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $1.82 on Wednesday to close at $55.23. Brent crude, used to price international oils, fell 38 cents to $59.10 per barrel in London. It lost $1.82 the previous session to $59.48. The dollar gained to 105.93 yen from Wednesday's 105.86 yen. The euro edged up to $1.1142 from $1.1138.
