Saudi Arabia and Coalition States Reject any Exploitation of Humanitarian Situation in Yemen, Dr. Al Rabeeah warns
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 02 - 12 - 2018

Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor-Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), affirmed that the Coalition States to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have made the humanitarian aspect in Yemen as a top priority and at the forefront of their concerns with more than USD 18 billion worth of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people.
This came in a press conference held here today by Dr. Al Rabeeah in the presence of Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock.
The KSrelief Supervisor General added that the KSA and UAE have responded to the recent reports by the United Nations about fears of aggravation of food and nutrition needs, adding that the two countries have provided USD 500 million to bridge this gap and cover the needs of 13 million Yemenis in the coming months.
He asserted that KSrelief praises the UN efforts, shared with the center, through the noble humanitarian work to lift the suffering of the Yemeni people in accordance with humanitarian laws and neutral international principles, calling upon the UN organizations to implement the projects outlined in the Humanitarian Response Plan 2018 funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait. He affirmed that the implementation rates are still low.
Dr. Al Rabeeah added that the center also looks forward that all international and local organizations assume their roles and prevent violations or exploitation of aid by the Houthi militias.
He pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the coalition states in Yemen reject any exploitation of the humanitarian situation in Yemen to achieve any political or military gains or any other goals, confirming support to facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance through Jazan port and land crossings. He also called upon the United Nations and the international community to put an end to the Houthi violations of humanitarian aid, including monitoring the resources of Hodeidah port.
