U.S. stocks fell sharply Tuesday but managed to recover most of their losses. The three major indexes plunged about 2 percent each before staging a rebound. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 125.98, or 0.5 percent, to 25,191.43. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 15.19, or 0.55 percent, to 2,740.69. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 31.09, or 0.4 percent, to 7,437.54.
