Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Alyaum and Al-Riyadh newspapers commented on Lebanon, saying that the Lebanese know, more than anyone else, the pioneering role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in their country, as the Kingdom and Lebanon have a long history of relations. The newspapers confirmed that the Kingdom has been a major supporter for the security, stability and prosperity of Lebanon, noting that before Taif Conference, which established the modern Lebanese state with all its political components, and after the conference, the Kingdom has been standing by Lebanon and dealing with it without distinguishing between its various sects. Nevertheless, Lebanon has been kidnapped by Hezbollah under the sight of the Lebanese, who were unable to stop its penetrating into the state until it became a state within a state, the papers said and added that the situation cannot continue, as it is not in the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese to be hostages in the hands of the party backed by Iran, which uses Lebanon as a base for the implementation of its expansionist plans in the region.
