The 4th Islamic Athletic Games championship has wrapped up in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku with the final ceremony attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, who is also chairman of the supreme organizing committee, and the Secretary General of the Sports Union for Islamic Solidarity Faisal Al-Nassar, who is also member of the steering committee, it was reported here today. In a key address, the Vice President thanked all athletes and representatives of the participating countries for attending and making the event a success. For his part, Al-Nassar thanked the representatives of as many as 54 countries and welcomed them in the next competition scheduled for Istanbul, Turkey, in 2021. During the ceremony, the flag of the Islamic competition was handed over by Nassar to the head of the Turkish delegation. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates, heads of the participating delegations and ambassadors of Islamic countries accredited to Azerbaijan were also present at the occasion.
