Al-Maalami disproves the Houthi fairy tales about the war in Yemen
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 12 - 05 - 2017

Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Maalami, Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the United Nations, has disproved the fairy tales the Houthi militias are circulating about the war in Yemen as a military official at the Arab Coalition for restoring the legitimacy in Yemen said the human aspect is the most important for the coalition as it is waging military operations in Yemen.
Speaking at a symposium at the Arab Gulf Countries Institute in Washington, Al-Maalami refuted the fallacy of a number of fairy tales the Houthis were circulating about the war in Yemen, citing that the war erupted in March 2015 while the reality is that it has broken out in September 2014, the Houthis represent a large percentage of the Yemeni population while they represent only two to three percent, that the Arab Coalition stages sea siege over the country, barring food relief from coming into the country, while the fact is that the shortage of food takes place in where the Houthis are in control and that relief sent inside areas controlled by the Houthis will not find its way to the needy.
Al-Maalami also said that the Arab coalition and GCC countries have put plans for the rehabilitation of the destroyed infrastructure of Yemen while the Houthis are accusing them of not worried about the fate of Yemenis and their country's infrastructure.
For his part, Major General Yahya Asiri of the Saudi ministry of defense said that the Houthis have launched as many as 49 missiles into the Kingdom's territories and implanted dozens of mines along the southern border of the Kingdom in addition to sea mines. He added that the Arab Coalition are respecting almost all relevant UN resolutions, including No. 2216 and truce agreements while the Houthi side have not live up to any, citing as many as 4500 violations of the ceasefire agreements.
