The United States appealed Friday against a recent ruling by the World Trade Organization (WTO) that had found US tax incentives for aircraft maker Boeing illegal, according to dpa. A WTO panel said in late November that the measures that favour aircraft assembly in the US state of Washington should be scrapped within 90 days. WTO announced the appeal without providing details. Since 2004, the United States and the European Union have been engaged in legal battles over subsidies for Boeing and its European rival Airbus. The WTO found in September that the European Union had failed to stop its subsidized financing of Airbus.
