The nation that will take on the European Union presidency at the end of the month says Britain should not count on better treatment from member states than might be meted out by the EU's chief exit negotiator, who is already seen as extremely harsh in London. Instead, it could be worse, according to AP. Britain voted in June to leave the EU, but terms of the exit still must be worked out. Foreign Minister George Vella of Malta, in an interview with the Associated Press, mentioned no EU nations that would be more lenient with Britain in the negotiation but said that "there are those who are much tougher than that and there are those who practically ready to accept what Barnier decides and what he acquires during the negotiations." He was referring to negotiator Michel Barnier.
