Teen boy Accused of Killing Parents will Remain in Custody
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 02 - 11 - 2016

A 17-year-old boy charged with killing his parents in their home is going to remain in custody.
A judge on Tuesday ordered a psychological examination for Andrew Balcer, who's charged with two counts of murder. Documents detailing the crime were sealed.
Police say an emergency call early Monday led authorities to the bodies of Antonio and Alice Balcer in Winthrop, a town of about 6,000 residents popular for summer recreation because of its lakes and ponds, AP reported.
A neighbor said she called for help after a woman came from the direction of the Balcer home saying someone had a gun and she feared for her life.
The father was a former member of the Coast Guard who was a proud member of a biker club, the Exiles, and a leader of a biker Bible study. His Facebook page shows him baptizing two men last year in Plymouth Pond and lists him as a local union steward.
His wife, who went by Ali, was into fitness, and photos on her Facebook page show her participating in several obstacle courses including Sunday River's Tough Mountain Challenge. She worked at Winthrop Veterinary Hospital and loved animals.
Police used crates to remove several animals from the couple's home.
The teenage son's name was released by his lawyer, who declined to comment.
Andrew Balcer is charged as a juvenile, but state prosecutors are requesting a hearing to decide whether he should be tried as an adult.
He was detained at a South Portland juvenile facility and is scheduled to next appear in court Nov. 17. Prosecutors will review his psychological examination before deciding whether to file a motion to try him as an adult.
Autopsies were being performed on his parents' bodies on Tuesday.
