An extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on relevant international parties to enforce the cessation of hostilities, in Syria, and install a humanitarian truce for rapid intervention, lift the siege on trapped Syrian civilians and to provide protection for them, their children and women, in addition to the withdrawal of foreign militants from the Syrian cities, especially the city of Aleppo and provide safe corridors for civilians. The final communiqué of the emergency meeting of the Executive Committee held on the level of delegates, which was held today at the headquarters of the organization in Jeddah, stressed on the need for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, under the Charter of the United Nations, through the implementation of resolutions related to the situation in Syria. Secretary General of the OIC was urged to seek an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee, at the Islamic summit level, to discuss deteriorating situation, in Syria, in general and in the city of Aleppo, in particular, within the framework of the implementation of the Third Islamic Summit, held in Istanbul, resolutions, to bring closer the positions of the Islamic member states, about the situation, in Syria and other conflicts, in the Islamic world. OIC meeting also called on the United Nations General Assembly session, to assume its responsibilities, in consistent with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations, saying that, in the case the continuation of the Security Council failed to do it duty in achieving peace and security in Syria, stressing the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis over the resumption of the negotiating process, within the framework of the application of the Geneva statement and related UN resolutions.
