Britain's economy expanded faster than expected in the three months to June, growing by 2.2 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data released on Wednesday, according to dpa. Britain's estimated gross domestic product grew 0.6 per cent compared with the previous quarter, following quarterly growth of 0.4 per cent from January to March, the Office of National Statistics said. Output from production posted quarter-on-quarter growth of 2.1 per cent, while the service sector expanded by 0.5 per cent compared to the previous quarter, the office said.
