At least 17 people were killed in a crash involving five vehicles Saturday in south-western Uganda, police said. According to dpa, a passenger minibus tried to overtake several cars and collided head-on with a lorry, which then hit three other vehicles, police officer Ahmed Kimera said. At least 12 people were injured, Kimera said by telephone from the site of the accident in Kampiringisa village about 50 kilometres from the capital Kampala.
