GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani praised the State of Kuwait for hosting the political talks between the Yemeni parties on April 18. In a statement to KUNA, Al-Zayani commended efforts of Kuwait under leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to stop bloodshed in Yemen and restore peace nationwide. He noted that the government of Kuwait provided all facilities to bring about success for the talks. Al-Zayani hoped the talks would contribute to completion of the political process in line with the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, and UN resolution 2216. The Gulf Cooperation Council, he said, was standing behind the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmad for the success of the talks. Al-Zayani called for the respect of the ceasefire and the facilitation of the delivery of humanitarian aid for the Yemeni people natiowide. He said the violation of the truce would not help providing suitable atmosphere for the forthcoming talks.
