All four members of a criminal gang suspected of involvement in the last month murder of Italian doctoral student Giulio Regeni have been killed in an exchange of fire with Egyptian police, dpa quoted the Egyptian Interior Ministry as saying. The ministry said in a statement late Thursday that the gang's four members were killed in gunfire with police earlier in the day on the outskirts of Cairo. The personal belongings of the 28-year-old Italian man - including an Italian flag, his passport, credit card one two mobile phones - were later found in an apartment of one suspect's sister in the city of Qaliubia.
