U.S. stocks closed mixed Monday as declines in tech stocks offset gains in energy stocks. The dollar turned lower against other major currencies. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery climbed $1.98 to $37.90 a barrel, their highest level of the year so far, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while gold futures dropped $6.70 to $1,264 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average added 9, or 0.06 percent, to 17,016. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 6, or 0.32 percent, to 1,993. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index lost 35, or 0.75 percent, to 4,681.
