The late arrival of electoral material in Central African Republic was the reason for the postponement of the presidential election from December 27 to December 30, dpa quoted a presidential candidate as saying on Friday. Candidate Geoges Doleguele said that the election authority needs to prevent errors at polling stations and to ensure officials are properly trained. "The delay in the attainment of the material is already a risk," Doleguele said. "The electoral authority must avoid imperfections ... So even if the poll is not perfect, it will avoid being catastrophic." The 30 presidential candidates agreed with the election authority that it would be impossible to distribute the material around the former French colony in time. CAR has been ruled by an interim government, led by Catherine Samba-Panza, since January 2014.
