Iran continues its policy of racism against the Turks and the various nationalities in the country as the Iranian authorities threatened to suppress the protest rally to be held in front of the municipality of the city of Ohry, the capital of East Azerbaijan province. The Azeri Turkish Civil Movement has called on the people to gather in front of City Hall to denounce what it called the Persian chauvinism targeting the Turkish ethnicity in Iran and preventing the Turks from education in their own language. Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Intelligence Service in the province of Gilan on the Caspian Sea launched a campaign of arrests in the ranks of the civilian activists who have called through social media on the Azerbaijani Turks in the region to join the protests against the central authorities. Various Iranian cities inhabited by Turkish Azerbaijani ethnicity witnessed during the past few days mass protests against the backdrop of broadcasting a satirical play offending the Turkish Azerbaijani ethnicity on the second channel of Iranian TV and the Iranian security forces suppressed the demonstrations and arrested hundreds of protesters.
