The European Commission "respects" the result of the referendum in Greece and is consulting with eurozone officials on the way forward, it says in a statement, according to dpa. EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is reaching out to the leaders of the eurozone's 18 other countries and has scheduled a conference call early Monday with EU President Donald Tusk, European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi and Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the head of the Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers, the statement says. The commission - one of Greece's three creditors - needs a Eurogroup mandate to hold any new bailout negotiations with Greece, according to an EU source speaking on condition of anonymity. "At this moment in time, the commission has not received such a mandate," the source says, noting that negotiations are "no longer possible" on the basis of Greece's previous bailout programme, which expired last week.
