A magnitude 6.6 earthquake jolted north-eastern Japan early Wednesday, authorities said, according to dpa. No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of deaths, injuries or damage. The quake struck at 6:13 am (2113 GMT Tuesday) with its seismic centre off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, at a depth of 50 kilometres, the Meteorological Agency said.
