Faisal described the talks he had today with the French Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation as fruitful and constructive, noting the two countries' bilateral relations hitting high skies through excellent performance of their joint committee. He cited the signing of a number of bilateral agreements between the private sectors of the two countries and developing of joint ventures which amounted to 186 projects worth SR33 billion.
During the talks, we discussed a wide range regional and international issues of mutual interest, he said, citing ways of combating terrorism as part of anti-ISIS and anti-Houthis wars.
He said France suggests that the two coalitions constitute a parallel effort to fighting terrorism in all forms and types.
He added that the talks also tackled the Iranian nuclear program and the framework agreement reached with Tehran in this regard. We agree on the importance of the final agreement conducing to the clear conditions that guarantee not transferring the Iranian nuclear to a military program, he said, adding that the Kingdom hopes that the agreement would lead to enhancing the security and stability of the region and the world at large, guaranteeing the existence of a mass destruction free Middle East and Gulf region, including the nuclear weapons and good neighborhoods, non-interference in the domestic affairs of the Arab countries and respect of their sovereignty.
Prince Saud Al-Faisal reiterated his country's vision which is in conformity with the international view regarding the Syrian crisis, citing Geneva I as a base for the comprehensive solution of the problem.
He cautioned that the flow of weapons to Assad's circle is seen by the Kingdom as a factor that might contribute to prolonging the crisis.
He added that the Palestinian - Israeli dispute was also discussed. He expressed delight of the admission of Palestine as full-member country to the International Criminal Tribunal, describing it as yet another recognition of the world community of the State of Palestine, hoping to see this translated into facts on the ground through establishing a viable independent State of Palestine according to the international legitimacy and Arab peace initiative.
He disclosed that the French foreign minister briefed him on France's ideas to keep the peace process working to match with the country's permanent position on the importance of bringing about peace in Palestine.
