AlHijjah 29, 1435, October 23, 2014, SPA -- Authorities in Mexico said Wednesday that 19 suspects were killed in three nearly simultaneous confrontations just across the border from Texas. The state government of Tamaulipas said that suspected drug cartel members in each case opened fire on military and police. The government said that all three incidents occurred within a half an hour between Reynosa and Matamoros. Mexican police killed three suspects during the first incident. Marines then took out nine suspects who purportedly had an armored vehicle, and the army killed seven suspects, two of whom allegedly had .50-caliber rifles. No military personnel were wounded.
