The Supervisor of Engineer Abdullah Buqshan Chair for Bee Research, President of Cooperative Beekeepers Association in Baha and Chairman of Organizing Committee of 7th International Honey Festival currently being held in Baha Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Khazem, stressed that there is no fear about the bees in the Kingdom from of the phenomenon of attrition taking place in many sites in the world, based on the periodic survey research conducted by the chair. He explained that bee colonies in the Kingdom continue to increase, exceeding now one million colonies, producing more than 9,000 tons of honey annually, noting that the number of beekeepers in the Kingdom exceeded 5000, the matter which makes the Kingdom superior at the Arab level. In an a statement to Saudi Press Agency(SPA) Dr. Al-Khazem commended the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture which has given great significance to beekeeping and honey production, represented in issuing a number of decisions concerning the provision of suitable environments for beekeeping all over the Kingdom.
