The death toll in a landslide in India's western state of Maharashtra climbed to 118 on Monday, with few chances of finding any survivors, officials said, according to dpa. At least 25 more bodies had been found in rescue operations since Sunday, National Disaster Response Force official MK Majhe said. The victims included 46 men, 55 women and 17 children. The landslide devastated the village of Malin Wednesday, flattening 44 homes, most of them made of mud, thatch and bamboo. Eight people, including a three-month-old boy, were rescued from the mounds of mud and stone. Between 80 to 90 people were feared trapped under the debris, but chances of their survival were bleak several days later. Torrential rains in the hilly terrain had also hampered rescue operations.
