Jordanian border guards aborted on Wednesday an attempt to smuggle drugs and ammunition through a vehicle from Syria into Jordan, an Armed Forces source said. The sources added that the border guards exchanged fire with the smugglers, forcing them to flee into the Syrian territory, noting that the vehicle was seized after it was hit during the exchange of fire. The smuggled items included large quantities of Hashish and 4,704,076 drug pills as well as ammunition, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. The source said that two people were injured while attempting to cross the border illegally, adding that they were evacuated to a field hospital in the area.
