Security spokesman of the Ministry of the Interior : personal information in security authorities-supervised records are subject to legal controls to protect privacy
In an answer to a query by Saudi Press Agency on what is being circulated on a study of a project to enable girls to have access to a database containing CVs of those seeking to marry them through security records of the security authorities, the security spokesman of the Ministry of Interior stressed that this is not true. He added that the personal information that is available in all records supervised by the security agencies are subject to legal controls to protect privacy according to regulations and within the requirements of the completion of the procedures carried out at the request of who is concerned with them. He stated that regulations ensure the confidentiality of information and prohibit moving them from concerned departments to any other party. He said that that in cases where a judicial decision is issued to have access to personal data, a judge is sent to the place of record-keeping at the concerned security department to see only the data concerning the judicial ruling. The security spokesman said that the Interior Ministry is currently working on the implementation of royal directives to manage tasks of preparing a comprehensive regulation for the protection of privacy and personal data that will regulate the handling of personal data pertaining to individuals in accordance with the Sharia regulations in the Kingdom and with the participation of all relevant authorities and benefit from international experiences in this field.
