unsolved Palestinian cause where people were for more than six decades suffering under the oppression of Israeli occupation and are subject to all kinds of violations of human rights due to no tangible outcome of the peace process on one hand the continuation of Israeli intransigency and imposition of the status quo policy on the other, particularly through the continuation of settlements, abrupt arrests, and deprivation of the most simple rights of humanity, led by the right of determination and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as capital.
In this regard, the world community should work hard to implement the relevant resolutions, topped by the UN and General Assembly pertinent resolutions calling for Israel to commit itself to enable the international rapporteur in charge of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories to enter those territories, Dr. Al-Aiban said.
He added that Saudi Arabia emphasizes the role of the Human Rights Council in enhancing the common values away from politicization as the Council could play a pivotal role in the coming phase to help build the values and concepts shared by human civilizations and cultures, ensure the principle of cultural diversification and invest them in protecting and enhancing human rights away from politics and cultural unilateral orientations.
Dr. Al-Aiban said the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for Dialogue among followers of Religions and Culture is a precedent in the field of spreading the spirit of tolerance, co-existence and moderation to confront the prejudiced claims for hatred and extremism and to make the differences among followers of religions and cultures a base for understanding and co-existence.
He reminded that this initiative was culminated by establishing an international center for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures in Vienna in November 2012 carrying the name of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
He extended thanks to the member states who supported Saudi Arabia's candidature to the membership of the Human Rights Council for a third term in a row.
He gave an account on the reforms set by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in the field of human rights in the Kingdom, citing law enforcement principles, the criminal procedures, legal appeals, litigation before the Court of Grievance and reforms of the judicial system.
