Authorities say 24 crew members are safe after being rescued from a ship that was flooding and had lost power in the western Pacific Ocean, AP reported. The U.S. Coast Guard says it received word Sunday morning that a vessel hauling logs to China was in trouble about 450 miles west of Guam. By Sunday afternoon, it says the Chinese crew of the Panama-flagged Rich Forest had abandoned the ship and entered life rafts. About three hours later, a bulk cargo vessel the CS Sunshine reached the site and safely rescued all 24. The Coast Guard says the Rich Forest is drifting without power and it is warning ships in the area of the possible navigation hazard. The rescued sailors were to be transferred to a Coast Guard vessel when it reaches the site, but it wasn't clear where they would be taken after that.
