Updating what was previously announced about the arrest of 18 members of a cell spying for the Iranian intelligence services, consisting of 16 citizens and two foreign residents (a Lebanese and an Iranian), the Security Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior issued a statement saying that "Investigations conducted by the relevant security services have led to the detention of ten more individuals for their involvement in espionage acts for this cell. They include 8 Saudi citizens and two foreign residents (a Lebanese and a Turkish). The Lebanese resident of the first group was released due to lack of evidence of his association with the members of the cell. This brings the total arrested in this case to 27 of whom 24 Saudi nationals and three foreign residents (an Iranian, a Turkish and a Lebanese). The formal proceedings will be completed as a prelude to their referral to the judicial bodies."
