Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations for the third time with a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso from Sunday Mba's 40th minute winner in a tense final on Sunday. Mba controlled a looping ball before beating a defender with atouch, and volleyed with precision past Burkina Faso goalkeeper Daouda Diakite into the low right corner of the goal to send the Nigerian fans into raptures at the sold-out National Stadium. The previous titles of the Super Eagles, who were playing in their seventh final, came in 1980 and 1994. Burkina Fasi was making its debut in the final match.
