President Barack Obama has nominated Jack Lew to be Treasury secretary, pointing to his previous work of balancing budgets during the Clinton administration. Obama urged the Senate to confirm Lew as quickly as possible, so he can proceed with work to revive the economy. If confirmed, Lew will replace Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who led the department through the economic turmoil in the aftermath of the 2007-2009 Great Recession.
