Up to 400 German soldiers and a Patriot missile-defence system are to be sent to Turkey to guard against attacks from Syria, the German cabinet decided Thursday. Parliament must also approve the mission, in which the United States and the Netherlands are also to take part. The Bundestag is to vote on it next week, dpa reported. "Turkey is currently the NATO partner most impacted by the conflict in Syria," the Defence and Foreign ministries said in a joint statement, adding that the deployment showed Germany's reliability as a NATO partner.
